About
The BARN Printmaking Studio is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for workshop participants. We are introducing our first international instructor and are excited to welcome Massimo Polello, a renowned graphic artist from Turin, Italy.
Massimo will apply the elements of composition in relationship to both the open and filled spaces of the blank page. He will guide the class in looking at non-Latin alphabets (including Arabic-Khufic, Siriane, Devanagiri, Bengalese, Ethiopian, etc.) as sources of abstract forms in experimenting with ways of filling space.
Finding and developing rhythm in making the composition will be a primary focus of the workshop. Finally, we will use our drawn, painted and inked compositions as references in making monotypes.
The focus of this class is on the elements of design. No calligraphy experience is necessary as Massimo is planning this course for printmakers. A basic understanding of monotypes is recommended.
This class is open to anyone interested in a close exploration of the elements of good design in making a composition. This is a remarkable opportunity to work alongside a leading European artist without leaving Bainbridge Island!
