About

Learn and/or hone stained glass skills with this Celtic symbol, called the triquetra (meaning three cornered) knot, also known as the trinity knot or Celtic triangle.

Known as one of the most beautiful Irish Celtic symbols, it's depicted in the 9th century Book of Kells and appears in Norwegian stave churches from the 11th century.

Details

  • This is a more challenging project than our "Try It" classes. This project involves more complicated shapes so is not suitable for children under 14. Students will learn how to use the grinders and ring saw to create curves.
  • A perfect multi-generational class for everyone 14 and above.
  • Some stained glass experience is helpful, but not required.

Details

A $15 materials fee, included in the price of this class, will cover everything you need to make the sun catcher.

Project

You will cut and grind various shapes of glass to create this traditional Celtic Knot sun catcher and, if you choose, add elements to make it easy to hang in a window. Perfect for displaying in a stand, as well.

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and older are welcome.
  • Closed-toed shoes and long pants are required in the Glass Studio at all times. Close-fitting cotton clothing and long-sleeves are best to prevent burns.
  • Tie back long hair.
