Get an introduction to woodturning as you make an intriguing array of useful things. This beginner-friendly class will cover safety issues, the basics of how a lathe works, and the tools used.

You will make a variety of small projects from different kinds of wood. The exact number will depend on your pace, but it's likely that you will go home each day with a different project you made, such as a toothpick holder that's shaped like a miniature vase, a top decorated with texture or color, a custom-shaped pen, and an ice cream scoop.

• For students ages 14-18.
• Skill Level: Beginner
• Registration closes on Monday, July 10.
• We recommend bringing your own safety glasses.
• A $20 materials fee included in the cost of the class covers the wood, finishes, and hardware for the pen and ice cream scoop.
