About

Make A Cigar Box Guitar the ETA Way
No power tools are used in this class.

In the ETA version of this 3 sessions class, you get to do laser cutting and soldering to build a playable acoustic-electric cigar box guitar.

To facilitate the building process, we provide you with a pre-built, hand-crafted neck made from locally sourced wood.

Cigar box guitars are great fun to make and easy to play.

In three afternoons you will learn:

  • What makes a guitar sound like a guitar
  • How to cut out the pieces for the cigar box on BARN's laser cutter and assemble them into a box
  • Pickup wiring, placement and how to control tone and volume
  • How to add mojo and personalize your instrument

Finally, we'll add tuners, strings, nut and bridge and pluck that first note!

The materials fee of $60 covers all basic materials, but not paint or other finish. You may want to provide your own additional hardware for mojo-enhancing embellishments.
