About

In this hands-on, beginner-friendly summer camp, you'll learn how to turn your ideas into bold, repeatable designs using linoleum block printing. Whether you’ve never taken an art class or you already love to draw, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the process of designing, carving, and printing your own custom patterns on fabric.
Explore what makes a strong block print, experiment with simple pattern styles, and build confidence using real printmaking tools. You’ll start with sketching and idea development, then move into carving your own lino blocks, and finally bring your designs to life by printing on bandannas, tea towels, fabric patches, and canvas tote bags, projects you’ll be proud to use, wear, or gift. You will learn:

  • How to design a successful block print with bold, clear shapes.
  • Basic pattern styles and how to create repeating designs.
  • Safe carving techniques using lino cutting tools.
  • How to ink and print by hand on a variety of fabric surfaces.
  • Tips for making clean, consistent prints (and how to embrace happy accidents!).

Details

  • Designed for ages 10-16.
  • Bring water and a snack.
  • Registration closes Monday, July 27.
  • Wear clothes you don't mind getting inky.
