About

High school students in grades 9 - 12 are invited to create and hang out at BARN on Teen Nights.  Come enjoy free food and drink. Play games in the BARN Commons. Explore a Studio project and learn new skills. Bring friends. Meet new friends.

Here are the activities we have planned for this month:

Carve a Bird - Learn basic carving techniques, including push, stop and draw cuts, as you carve a simple, three-dimensional bird from basswood. Master wood carver Jeff Iller will show you how to handle razor-sharp carving knives safely and efficiently as you create the basic shape and add details that bring it to life.

Macrame Plant Hangers & Bracelets

At Teen Night in November we made Macrame key chains.  Now we’re kicking things up to the next level! You can either make a plant hanger for a 4-inch pot, or make a friendship bracelet and experiment with different ways to color it.

Plasma Cutting

Get suited up to make sparks fly in our welding studio!  You will get to use your own creativity to make a design to cut out of metal.

Make a Book: "The Little Book of Surprises"

Bring your imagination and make a book full of surprises, including map-fold, a pop-up box, flip ups, pockets, doorways & windows, and finally, some plain paper pages for you to fill with writing or drawing!

Falafel-making

Maybe you've tried falafel from the Kurdish Kitchen food truck or another favorite restaurant.  Now you can learn to make this savory Middle Eastern dish at home!

Printing on Canvas

Carve your own design into a soft rubber material with sharp carving tools, then print your design on a canvas pouch or tote.

  • The remaining dates for the 2019-20 school year are February 14, March 13, April 17, and May 8.
  • No pre-registration is required, although all students will need to sign in upon arrival.
  • Questions: contact Jess Henderson at BARN at 206-842-4475 x221 or email: JessH@bainbridgebarn.org

Teen Nights are generously funded by a grant from the City of Bainbridge Island.
