Teens, come on down to BARN for an evening of games, friends, food, and creativity!  You'll get to choose from activities like cooking, woodworking, sewing, jewelry-making, metal-working, and more - every month is a different lineup. You can also just hang out and chill or work on your own projects.  

No registration is required, but teens will be asked to sign in and out and provide a parent phone number and email address upon arrival.  All participants will be required to wear masks and only students who are fully vaccinated will be permitted in the building.  We will be offering pizza and snacks as usual, but in February the food will be served outside for maximum safety.  

This month our event will have a festive Valentine's Day theme!  Here are the activities on the schedule: 

Chocolate-Dipped Treats - Choose from a selection of sweet and savory snacks such as strawberries and pretzels to dip in chocolate and drizzle.  You'll make some artistic treats to take home to enjoy over the holiday weekend.   

Laser Cut Puzzle Box - Cut your parts out on BARN's laser cutter, then assemble them together to make a cool box with a moving puzzle-top. A great gift to give a friend or family member!  

Friendship Bracelet or Keychain - You’ll learn an easy Japanese braiding technique called Kumihimo to make a special gift or something nice for yourself!  Use Valentine colors, “Pal-entine” colors, or your own unique combination! 

Wood Cheese Board - Design and make a cheese board or small serving tray from hardwood using a band saw or scroll saw in BARN's Woodworking studio.  

Clay 'Love Critters' - Create small critters with sculpey clay and love! We will learn the basics of making mini animal sculptures and have free time where you can create whatever your heart desires.  

Woodcarving - Learn how to use a special woodcarving knife and carve your own stylized swan out of wood.  Another great gift idea!  

Valentine Card Making - Craft your own homemade valentines with paper, stickers, markers, glue, and your imagination!  

Painting - Use acrylic painting on canvas as a tool for identity exploration in this welcoming space for LGBTQ+ and allies. Learn techniques for working with acrylics and/or just get creative with it and see what happens!

We'll also have a movie going in the Great Room and a ton of board games in the Commons.  We can't wait to see you!!
