Please note this class has been cancelled - Thinking Like a Machinist is offered again on January 17.

In this beginners class you will learn how to to take your ideas and convert them to drawings that will allow you to plan and document how you will make what you want.

You will be introduced to dimensioning, tolerances, the leadscrew, and the basics of the machine tools and their operations that can be performed. You will use some basic measuring tools to measure parts and makes drawings of them. 

This class will be a great preparation for any of our hands-on classes in the machine, sheet metal, or wood shop.

Bring a pad of paper, a straight edge and pencil and eraser to the class. If you have a 6” machinist scale and or a vernier or digital caliper please bring these. BARN measuring tools will be provided if you don’t have them.

Teacher Bio:  Jerry Erickson is an engineer and machinist who has developed a lot of mechanisms and products for various companies.
