About

Sketch and paint a barn owl on 8-inch by 10-inch watercolor paper. This is a workshop-based class where you'll see demonstrations by the instructor as you follow along with your own painting. You'll receive personalized tips and instruction throughout the class.

Details

  • Bring your paints, a couple of pencils and brushes, a good eraser, and dive into painting! 
  • Basic watercolor skills are required.
  • Before class, check out this watercolor basics video, which will introduce you to techniques and terminology we'll use on the class project.

Details

  • A $5 materials fee, included in the price of the class, includes a workshop packet, cotton rag watercolor paper, reference materials, and class working materials (tape, towels, water vessels).
  • You need to bring:
    • Watercolor brush(es): A minimum of one #8 or #6 round or long-round. Three brushes are recommended: detail (#2/0, 1/0, 0, or 1), small (#3 or 4), medium (#6 or 8).
    • Watercolor paints with pallet, integrated or separate (minimum four mixing color set).
    • Pencil(s): Mechanical 0.5 or 0.7 recommended.
    • White or neutral eraser: White polymer or gum eraser recommended.
    • Optional: Sketchbook, and a reference picture (hardcopy or softcopy).

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome. This is planned as an adult class with instruction tailored to that audience. 
  • Under 14 admitted on a case-by-case with instructor permission.

Caleb Tucker

Caleb is a watercolor artist painting compositions highlighting Pacific Northwest flora and fauna. He enjoys the challenge of painting with watercolors and gets a thrill from sharing his art with all who find joy or remembrance in the works.
