About

This is a workshop open to those interested in becoming Monitors for the Welding Studio. Self nomination is encouraged. It is a familiarization and practice session so that prospective Monitors are comfortable with the range and use of equipment in the Welding Studio. Training will be provided in safety protocols and Welding Studio operating procedures.

Prospective monitors should be safety conscious BARN members and sufficiently skilled welders to be able to support assisted or open studio participants who have undertaken welding classes and are developing their skills. Prospective monitors need not be skilled or practiced in all types of welding. Monitors will be able to guide assisted or open studios that are limited to a single type of welding.

Prospective monitors should contact the Welding Studio Lead (Henry Sharpe at henrysharpe@gmail.com) or the Metal Arts Studio Lead (Peter Mosley at pmose268@gmail.com) when considering registering for this workshop.

The goal of this and similar workshops is to develop a cadre of Welding Studio Monitors to support the growth of the Welding Studio and facilitate Assisted and Open Studios for Barn Members and participants.

Safety and Personal Protection Equipment will be provided by BARN.

Participants must wear long sleeve natural fiber clothing, closed toe shoes, no stretch fabrics.  Dress warmly, the studio may be cold.

If only one student has registered 48 hours before the class, the class will be cancelled.
