About
This class is the second of a four-part series. This class is a sequel to Introduction to TIG Welding Part 1. TIG Part 1 is a prerequisite for attending this class.
TIG welding is generally recognized as the welding technique of choice for artisans and more exotic materials including aluminum and stainless steel. It is equally applicable to steel.
This is a hands-on opportunity to improve and practice what was learned in Part 1. The TIG welding class is limited to 4 participants and focuses on hands-on mentoring and practice.
The objective of the three part series is for you to be able to comfortably weld using the TIG process.
The class will review the safety briefing, the introduction to welding theory and materials and the set up process for TIG welding on a Miller 215 Welder and to sharpen the tungsten. The emphasis of the class will be on technique development and practice and the satisfactory completion of different types of welds (lap, butt, corner, edge, and "T" welds).
There will be approximately two hours of hands-on instruction. Over the shoulder mentoring will be from a professional TIG welder.
At the end of class, students should be comfortable undertaking independent practice of technique or starting their own projects.
Additional materials fee of $9 for for steel coupons, gas, tungsten, and filler rod. The fee will be added to class price when you register.
