About

This original class had no registrants. David wants to change it to a TIG 1 & 2 Class to accommodate a postponed class from Oct. 30.~tt

This combined class for MIG or TIG welding #3 and #4 is designed to efficiently let students complete either MIG #3 or TIG #3 (Fabrication), OR MIG #4 or TIG #4 (Project/Practice) in the sequence leading to use of the JAWS shop. Students should have completed MIG #1 & #2 -OR- TIG #1 & #2.

This 3 hour class allows each student to design and work on a project of their choosing under the guidance of a professional welder. Your project should be the culmination of what you have learned in prior classes. Class size is 4 people facilitating one-on-one learning and direct mentoring.

Details:

  • Students for #3 must be familiar with shop power tools. Experience with these tools is gained in the Wacky-Tacky Art class. Students in #3 will learn to cut materials accurately and fabricate sturdy joints leading to the ability to create basic furniture.
  • Students for #4 should come with a clear design of their project, complete with cut list and materials. A drawing is essential to effective communication with the instructor. You can use this class as a starting point for a project to be finished later in open studio or on your own. You will need to bring the materials necessary for the project. The class offers the opportunity to fill gaps in your welding knowledge and demonstrate you have the skills to work independently in the welding studio.
  • There is a materials fee of $15 for 5 pounds of steel (from what is on hand), filler wire, gas, consumables and recycling included in the price of class.
  • Safety and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) will be provided by BARN.
  • Students must wear long sleeve natural fiber clothing and closed toe shoes. No stretch fabrics.
  • This class is open to Monitors who wish to practice or familiarize themselves, providing the class is not fully subscribed.
  • BARN is practicing safety measures for the health and well-being of all participants, in accordance with state and CDC guidelines. Please click here to read more.
  • Tuition assistance is available. Click here to apply.
