About
Instead of the usual talk and slide show, the August Woodworkers' Presentation is a field trip to the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-Op to see how the crew there is renovating the Lady Washington, a 112-foot replica of an 18th-century tall ship.
Built in Aberdeen, Wash., in 1989 for the state's centennial celebrations, the ship has been named Washington State's Tall Ship Ambassador and is the official State Ship. The Lady Washington is operated by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority and has appeared in numerous films, including “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Star Trek Generations.” Once the restoration is complete, the Lady Washington will return to its home port of Aberdeen and resume conducting educational trips along the Pacific Coast in Oregon and California.
