This generative Amherst Writers & Artists workshop is not your typical class or writing group but has elements of both.  A safe environment is created to provide writers of all levels an opportunity to generate new writing, energy, be surprised and have fun while learning craft elements and more about their writing strengths.

Each session includes two to three writing prompts followed by a time for reading and response.

Every piece is a first draft, like a “new baby” says Pat Schneider, founder of Amherst Writers & Artists. Responses can only start with: what is strong, what stays with me and what I like.

Julie Gardner is an Amherst Writers and Artists Affiliate and has been leading Writers Gathering workshops and retreats in Seattle and beyond for nearly nine years. She moved to Bainbridge Island in 2018.
