Join the First Responders!  

No, you won't need to carry a badge, wheel a stretcher, or haul out a fire hose. What we need are readers and writers who will bring an open mind and a willingness to share their thoughts as we host our breakout First Responders group. 

Here's how we envision First Responders. Each session will focus on characterization, dialogue, plot, or setting in a work of fiction from any genre. One or two writers will bring a sample of their work (no longer than three pages) and read aloud or distribute written copies. The assembled group will then respond or give feedback to the writer. These valuable insights will aid—potentially rescue—the writer who has chosen to share his or her work. Responders will benefit from inclusion in the process and may wish to share their work in future sessions.

For the first session, a writer has volunteered to share the plot outline of a romance novel she is writing. She'd like your feedback. Are there new directions the plot could take, edge-of-your-seat actions that could be added, or consequences that haven't yet been considered? It's romance, but the plot is adventure and action so you need not be an expert on romance.
