About
Starting with a square or rectangular block of wood,
choose which face will be the lid. Then use a bandsaw or a scroll saw to cut the block apart in a way
that allows it to be glued back together to make a hollowed-out box. No
fancy joinery is needed.
Learn about different ways to embellish your box — techniques you can use on many other wood projects too. You will learn how to burn in a design with a hot-tipped tool, carve with hand
tools or a small rotary carving tool, and add color with milk
paints, acrylic paints or stains.
If time allows, you can make more than one box.
