About
Noted island furniture make Robert (Bob) Spangler is also your instructor for this class, which covers design and what it takes to make a chair that is structurally robust, comfortable, and pleasing to the eye.
You'll work with patterns and jigs, and use a bandsaw and shaper to create parts that are accurate and repeatable (if you find the shaper intimidating, you won't have to use it!). Learn vacuum forming to bend the pieces that make up the back of the chair. All the joinery is mortise and tenon, made with the Festool Domino.
You'll leave class with a complete chair. You'll need to apply finish to the wood and upholster the seat on your own, after the class. The instructor will demonstrate the upholstery process.
