About

Learn the basic design principles associated with cabinet hardware and how to design cabinets, doors, and drawers to accommodate different types of hinges and glides. You'll learn how to select and install cabinet door hinges and undermount drawer glides, and gain hands-on experience while measuring and installing the hardware on simple cabinet mock-ups.  

Although this class focuses on the hardware — not on how to construct cabinet boxes — you'll learn how to design cabinets to work with different kinds of hardware and how to select hardware for specific cabinet dimensions and desired features. You'll also learn about and try out jigs that simplify hardware installation and achieve the precision required for cabinets to work well.

The class will use commonly available Blum hinge and glide hardware, but the principles apply to other brands.

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• You must wear safety glasses (we recommend bringing your own) and closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and avoid dangling clothing and jewelry.
