Forge: Blacksmithing a Dragon Head
Forging a dragon head will teach students how to control and measure their hammering techniques.
Students will learn to move metal the way they intend between hammer and anvil. These skills help students become better and more proficient blacksmiths.
Details
- This class is off-site at 20224 Pond View Lane in Poulsbo.
- This class is held in an open-air workshop, so dress accordingly.
- Introductory classes are for everyone. Whether you have never stood near a blazing forge or if you are a bit seasoned, these classes have something to offer regardless of your experience.
- Beginning classes are designed to teach very specific blacksmithing safety, and techniques, while familiarizing students with forging equipment.
- This class will focus on hammering skills as they draw, taper, and upset their projects. Students will make their own version of the project.
- Blacksmithing is simple but is physically challenging. Come and enjoy a day at the forge. But do be careful… this ancient art is very addictive.
- Please bring your lunch to enjoy during a break.
Materials
- A $25 materials fee, included in the price of the class, includes all you need.
Class Policies
- Wear natural fiber clothing only (no synthetics that could burn your skin).
- Wear sturdy shoes or boots with closed toes and heels. Sandals are not permitted.
- Ages 14 and up are welcome.
