About

This 5 hour workshop is a great way to continue your skills in Gelli Plate Printing. 

Details

  • We will use flexible Gelli Plates and hand print using stencils and water-based ink or acrylic paint.
  • Students will be using acrylic paint to create quick drying, layered and multi colored prints.
  • Image transfers, dry layering and better registration techniques are some of the topics we will cover.
  • Stencils, brayers and paintbrushes are just some of the tools used to create images.
  • All materials will be provided to the students including Gelli Plates and paper and all the resulting prints can be taken home.
  • Students are welcome to bring in image references, and paint pens if they have them. Posca are a great option. 

Details

A $30 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers everything you need, including:

  • One 8-inch by 10-inch Gelli Arts printing plate
  • Acrylic paints
  • Inks
  • Stencils
  • Paint brushes
  • Brayers
  • Paper for printing (rag paper such as Rives BFK)
  • Ink knives for conditioning and mixing ink
  • Aprons and nitrile gloves

Project

Students will be making a series of prints on paper using acrylic paint and Gelli Plates.

Prerequisites

You must have taken an introductory class such as Gelli Plate Printing.

Instructor
Dana Seeger

Dana Harris Seeger was born in San Francisco and split her childhood between California and Indiana. She pursued her passion in high school and college and received a bachelor's degree in painting from Anderson University in Indiana in 2004 and a master's in fine arts in printmaking from San Jose State University in 2011. She is a member of the California Society of Printmakers. In 2014, Dana co-created an art studio and school in San Jose, Calif., called the School of Visual Philosophy. Her work in printmaking and painting helps her connect real to imagined memories and her life experiences to her heritage. Growing up as a second-generation Baltic American, she has always tried to connect the artifacts acquired from Estonia and Latvia into her own story. She lives in Poulsbo with her husband (a sculptor), daughter, and twin sons. Visit her website at www.danaharrisseeger.com
