About

Work on projects of your own choosing in BARN’s spectacularly equipped Woodworking & Small Boatbuilding Shop.

Open studio time is a collaborative, informal-learning situation where woodworkers of various skill levels share tips and offer a hand when needed. A trained safety monitor is always on duty.

Details:

  • Free for members and a $10 drop-in fee for non-members.
  • You must be checked out on specific power tools before you can use them. Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 1 and 2 cover the major tools. We ask that you also attend our free one-hour Orientation to the Woodshop class. Check the Woodshop calendar for dates.
  • BARN supplies tools and basic shop supplies, such as sandpaper. Participants are expected to bring their own wood, hardware, etc.
  • Wear safety glasses at all times in the shop. Avoid loose clothing and wear close-toe shoes. Noisy equipment may warrant wearing hearing protection.

To accommodate classes, portions of the shop are sometimes unavailable for general use during open studio time. We will attempt to post any restrictions on the open studio listing for that day.
