In this hands-on class, you'll make practice cuts on wood that the shop will supply and shape a piece of wood using specific studio tools. Completing this class qualifies you to use the following tools during Open Studio time or in classes that have this as a prerequisite:
- Table saw
- Planers
- Jointers
- Chop saw
- Drill presses
Details
- Please be on time because there is a lot of essential information to cover in this class. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you may not be able to join the class.
- This is a companion class to Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 2, which may be taken before or after this class.
- To use the shop, you also need to attend the free, one-hour Orientation to the Woodshop.
- You'll get more out of this class if you first view videos of these tools (in the Woodworking playlist on our YouTube channel). You can go back to these at any time to review safety protocols (you can also find them on the Woodworking & Small Boatbuilding Studio page).
- All needed materials will be provided.
