About

Building projects with "tight tolerances" is one of the most difficult and useful tasks a hand-tool woodworker can master. In this class, you'll learn the tricks and advanced skills that allow you to make wooden puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. You'll learn to use:

  • Measuring and marking tools.
  • Japanese saw.
  • Block planes.
  • Chisels.

You'll be able to apply the skills you learn to any future projects that require accuracy.

  • Ages 12 - 16.
  • Skill level: Beginner.
  • Bring water and a snack.

Details

A materials fee of $10, included in the class price, covers everything you'll need.

Class Policies

  • Wear safety glasses and closed-toe shoes.
  • Tie back long hair.
  • We recommend bringing your own safety glasses.
Instructor
Paul Kury

Paul Kury studied woodworking at Lonnie Bird’s School of Fine Woodworking in Dandridge, Tenn., and has been an active woodworker for more than 40 years. His preference is 18th-century furniture. Paul also volunteers as a woodworking safety monitor at BARN.
